CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES TO HOST

Summer teenage home stays

We welcome many students wishing to spend 2-4 weeks during the school holidays living with a local family and perfecting their English. We try and match up visitors with host families as closely as possible. We are interested in hearing from families who have boys or girls at home aged between 10-17 years old.  Many of our students are interested in playing sports, spending time outdoors or learning about our culture through traditional music and festivals so we are particularly interested in hearing from families with any of these interests.  Hosts are paid an allowance.

Strangford July programme

Every July we run a programme held at Castle Ward in conjunction with Clearsky Adventure. We welcome a group of Spanish and French visitors aged between 12 and 16 years old for 2/ 3 weeks. Participating host families are required to have a son or daughter within this age-range. The programme has been running since 2008 and is suitable for families living in the vicinity of Downpatrick and surrounding areas. Hosts are not paid an allowance, but instead given a place at the summer camp for their own child.

Cultural exchange students

We also offer our visitors the opportunity to come and study at a local school during term-time for periods of 2-4 weeks. We accept hosts who have children in their own homes aged between 12 and 17 years old. Hosts are paid an allowance.

Older teenagers

We welcome older teenagers (aged 16-18) to take part in General English programmes in Belfast combined with volunteering experience for local charities in the afternoons. Placements are normally in the Belfast area. No need for hosts to have children living at home but preferibly on a direct transport route into the city. Hosts are paid an allowance.

Adult and family visitors

We accept applications from hosts wishing to welcome an adult visitor year-round . No need for hosts to have children in their own homes but we are particularly interested in hosts with a special skill or interest they might like to share with a visitor (arts and culture, hill-walking, golfing, history, EFL training, traditional music etc) Occasionally we welcome family units who wish to stay with a local host family for a week or two during the summer months. Hosts are welcomed who have space to comfortably host up to 4 visitors with private bathroom. Hosts are paid an allowance.

Please get in touch if any of the above opportunities are of interest to you and we will give you further details about how to register.
